What a year! 2024 was a real power year for Raidboxes. In this review, we take you on a journey through the most important events, successes and challenges of our year – and take a look at what 2025 has in store for us. Let’s dive in!
The long-awaited Raidboxes 2.0 release
A major highlight in 2024 was the launch of our completely revised Raidboxes 2.0 server infrastructure in April. After intensive planning and development, we have created a solution that not only meets the performance requirements of modern WordPress websites, but also takes future challenges in WordPress hosting into account.
The new infrastructure not only provides better performance, but also more flexibility. Websites can now be scaled even more dynamically in order to remain lightning fast even with high traffic.
At the same time, optimised security measures and more efficient backups ensure maximum reliability. Raidboxes 2.0 is our promise to make WordPress hosting faster, more secure and future-proof.
Almost 80% of customer websites have now been migrated to Raidboxes 2.0. This milestone has kept all our teams – especially engineering and support – busy throughout the year. And that in addition to our day-to-day operations. Our support volume increased by up to 40 %, especially in April, October and November, due to the migration phases. So a big thank you to our entire team! 🥳

New format, new possibilities: The launch of our WordPress webinars
The year 2024 also marked the start of an exciting journey in the field of WordPress webinars. We want to offer our customers and the WordPress community valuable insights into topics such as performance optimisation, website security and marketing hacks.
We run most of the sessions in collaboration with experts from the industry and not only want to impart in-depth knowledge, but also share practical tips that can be applied immediately to improve your own WordPress projects.
By the way: If you have a webinar topic in mind that you can use to enrich our WordPress community, please get in touch with us.
A year full of impact: how we support the environment and society
In 2024, we once again proved that corporate success and responsibility for the environment and society go hand in hand. These were our most important highlights:
- We not only bear responsibility for the emissions from our websites, but also offset those from our other office activities. We reduce avoidable emissions in the long term and offset them with high-quality biochar projects. We neutralise unavoidable emissions by purchasing and retiring emission certificates from EU trading.
- Our data centres are powered 100% by green electricity from wind and hydropower.
- We are GWÖ balanced (2020), which emphasises our commitment to ethics and transparency.
- To date, our efforts have resulted in over 600,000 trees being planted and around €5,000 being donated to Greenspark projects, thereby making a direct contribution to climate protection.
Another great highlight that is very close to our hearts was our first Contribution Day on 25 July. A day on which we deliberately took time to give something back. Together with the residents of a retirement home in Münster, we visited the zoo – for many of them an excursion that would otherwise hardly be possible.
We spent an unforgettable day full of shared experiences and moving conversations. The gratitude in the eyes of our guests showed us how important such moments are. This day was clearly not only enriching for the senior citizens, but also for us as a team.
New: The Raidboxes Impact Report 2024
We are proud to present our annual Impact Report, which highlights our most important milestones, the results of our sustainability strategy and our contribution to the common good.
We are already looking forward to making Contribution Day a firm tradition at Raidboxes and have already planned the next Contributor Day in January 2025.

Raidboxes at WordCamp Europe in Turin
Another highlight for us this year was our participation in WordCamp Europe 2024 (WCEU 24) in Turin. This year was the first time we were only there as visitors and volunteers and were actively involved in organising and running the event. Some background info for you: WordCamps are community-based conferences that thrive on community engagement.
In addition to inspiring talks on current trends such as AI-supported content management, sustainable web design and future WordPress developments, we also had the chance to network within the WordPress community. It was so nice to meet so many faces in person and see old acquaintances again!

Special marketing highlights 2024
Our website rebuild was a major milestone for our marketing team this year. Because even as a WordPress hoster, the web design of your own WordPress site doesn’t always run smoothly. That’s why we took the migration to our new infrastructure as an opportunity to completely renew the tech stack of our own website and expand its functionality. In summary, our website rebuild has optimised the core web vitals, significantly reduced loading times, modernised the user experience and improved our SEO performance.

At the same time, we launched Raidboxes Case Studies to showcase our most successful projects and partnerships. These provide a detailed insight into the challenges, solutions and results that we have achieved together with our customers, while also serving as inspiration and guidance for potential new customers. With authentic success stories, we not only emphasise the versatility of our product, but also strengthen trust in our brand and the quality of our services.
Internal highlights: How we grow and develop at Raidboxes
This year, we at Raidboxes have also moved even closer together internally and in cooperation with team.blue and have further professionalised our working methods.
Internally, we have professionalised our way of working through the Positive Leadership Masterclass, which the majority of our leads completed this year. The aim of this masterclass was to implement a comprehensive leadership concept that contributes to a positive working environment and supports us in achieving our goals. In regular workshops, peer group sessions and practical exercises, not only the theoretical foundations but also practical tools for positive leadership were discussed.
We introduced salary bands last year and expanded them further this year, which define clear salary ranges for each role and level based on minimum, maximum and a midpoint. They create transparency and fairness, as salaries are based on facts rather than negotiating skills and unfair differences (e.g. gender gaps) are systematically avoided. Employees know where they stand and what salary steps are possible. At the same time, the salary bands facilitate our budget planning, ensure competitive salaries and promote individual career development through clear development steps.
We have also further expanded our Competency Framework : We want to use this tool to clearly communicate which behaviours and competencies we expect, value and reward in certain roles. By defining competences – a combination of knowledge, skills and attributes – we create clear guidance for our employees, promote their development in a targeted manner and increase our efficiency as a company at the same time. This enables us to plan training better, strengthen commitment, make fairer decisions and be more successful overall. We also use the framework to recruit talent in a targeted manner, identify skills gaps and promote knowledge sharing. In the coming year, we would particularly like to work on offering customised learning opportunities.
Amongst other things, workations were held for this purpose. Our People Team was in Hanover for a few days to work, cook and socialise together. They used the intensive time together to conduct an employee retrospective. This enabled them to identify what went well and less well and what they would still like to work on. This resulted in key topics and some action items for next year.

Our mission for 2025
Following our new server infrastructure, next year will be characterised by our new dashboard, which will be rolled out gradually. Users can look forward to a much more user-friendly Raidboxes dashboard with many design and feature updates. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the focus group for their continuous, very valuable feedback. After our successful website rebuild, our magazine rebuild is also due next year – for similar reasons.
Accessibility will also become an important topic for us. Not only do we want to learn and implement measures ourselves. We also want to document our learnings and pass them on to you. This also includes the rebuild of our magazine.
