On July 29, 2019, the European Court of Justice (ECJ) declared cookie opt-ins to be a cautionary obligation. As a result, website operators should no longer ask themselves whether they should use a cookie banner, but how they can implement this requirement in a legally compliant manner. Various plugins are available for WordPress sites for this purpose. One of these plugins, which Sven Scheuerle presents to you in our magazine, is Borlabs Cookie.

Among the improvements in Gutenberg 6.2 is a small feature that many have been waiting for - the option to customize the target of the button block and open it in a new tab. In addition, it is now possible to use other block types in the cover block than headings, paragraphs and buttons. All adjustments and fixes can be viewed here.

Security updates up to WordPress 3.7?
The WordPress Security Team is asking for feedback on whether security fixes should continue to be applied to outdated WP versions. This is because the effort required to support versions up to 3.7 increases with every major version: "There is a great deal of work in supporting this small userbase. It takes a large amount of time and energy and hurts the team's ability to work effectively."

Security vulnerability in WP Super Cache
A security vulnerability has been discovered in the WP Super Cache plugin, which is active on over two million WP pages. The vulnerability can only be exploited if debugging is enabled for users. To fix the problem, you should update to the latest version (1.6.9) as soon as possible. Incidentally, you don't need a caching plugin with Raidboxes, as we rely on server-side caching.
