WP News: Manage multiple WP pages more effectively & Gutenberg integration is getting closer

As our WordPress news is now always published on Fridays, today we have the news from the past two weeks. Since this year's "State of the Word" speech by Matt Mullenweg at WordCamp US, there has been a lot of discussion about the Gutenberg editor. And questions about the impact of the EU General Data Protection Regulation are piling up. We also show you our new development feature and four tools to help you manage multiple WordPress projects.

WP News: Manage multiple WP pages more effectively & Gutenberg integration is getting closer

Managing 30+ WordPress sites? These 4 tools make it possible!
Although WordPress is and remains our favorite CMS, we all know how much effort it takes to keep a single site up and running: Updating the WordPress version, plugins and themes, creating new content, replying to comments and managing backups - plus the constant worry about site security and performance. Even with just a handful of WordPress WordPress projects, this effort is a real productivity killer. That's why we'll show you the areas in which you can really save time and nerves with well-known administration tools and the integrated features of your host.

Our template feature: A kickstart for your WordPress projects
Our new "WordPress templates" feature saves you a lot of time when setting up new WP pages, because a template is a backup that is saved separately from the original page. You can then create a new page from your templates with just one click. The best thing about it: All your plugins, themes and settings are transferred one-to-one and are ready to use immediately. For example, you can create your own WordPress templates for different themes or industries and get new WordPress projects rolling even more efficiently.

Mullenweg sets the course for 2018
At WordCamp US, WordPress co-founder Matt Mullenweg gave his annual "State of the Word" speech, in which he reviews the past year and sets the course for the coming year. This year, his speech was all about the new Gutenberg editor. When the editor is ready for integration into the core, WordPress 5.0 will be rolled out. According to Mullenweg, this is expected to happen in April 2018. You can watch the speech, including the Gutenberg live demo, in full on WordPressTV.

What will the GDPR really change?
The answer is "not very much" - at least that's what legal expert Udo Meisen says in the PressWerk podcast. Nevertheless, there are some areas in which the GDPR will impose stricter requirements on entrepreneurs. These include target group profiling with Facebook Ads, the sending of newsletters and the conclusion of commissioned data processing contracts with third-party providers. Udo Meisen also explains the new ePrivacy Directive, which will come into force together with the GDPR.

Cyber insurance is becoming increasingly popular
Companies are increasingly afraid of hacking attacks and want to protect themselves against this risk with cyber insurance. According to Heise Online, however, insurers are finding it difficult to assess and categorize the level of risk. Although the cyber insurance market is currently still manageable, Andreas Berger, member of the Board of Management at Allianz AGCS, expects the global market volume to reach 20 billion euros by 2027.
